If you need a barcode for your book or magazine, we recommend that you first get an ISSN or ISBN number.
You can get an ISBN number (for books) or an ISSN numbers (for magazines) from the NZ National Library (these numbers are free). Alternatively, you can visit this website for the links to all the national ISSN centres around the world.
Once you have your number, come back to this page, order ISBN/ISSN barcode images ($30) below & give us your number.
We will then use your number to create your barcode images. Both book and magazine barcodes are 13-digits long, however some magazine barcodes have an extra two-digit supplement number at the end (see our sample images). Supplement numbers allow you to use the same ISSN number to create different barcodes for different issues of your magazine. If you want your ISSN barcode to have supplement numbers, please email us to request this.
We will email your ISSN or ISBN barcode images to you in five different formats (jpeg, pdf, eps, tiff & bmp). You can then incorporate your barcode into the artwork for your book or magazine (or else print it onto sticky labels).
